The Little Footsteps That Follow

Oh, Be Careful Big Feet Where You Go

2 Chronicles 34:1-3“Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father; and he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet a boy, he began to seek the God of David his father, and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherim, and the carved and the metal images.”

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Isaiah 54:13 “All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.”

Deuteronomy 4:9 “Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children“

Colossians 3:21 “Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.”

Ephesians 6:4“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”

Deuteronomy 6:6-9“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Isaiah 38:19“The living, the living, he thanks you, as I do this day; the father makes known to the children your faithfulness.”

2 Timothy 3:14-15“But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”

My Daughter's Example I am everything for my daughter For she is only three I am like her hands and feet and legs and arms Until she is old enough to be

Her little eyes they watch My every move They see all the things I work with And everything I do

Little ears they hear me when I am speaking to someone They can decipher my emotions by it Like if I'm upset or just having fun

Little hands they repeat My motions, and what my hands have done Little feet follow me everywhere Whether I am walking or on the run

Her little mouth it speaks And repeats the things I say It talks sometimes just like me It even copies how I react to others ways

So I have to be really careful About what I say and even where I go Because she is learning and looks up to me And is sure to follow

So I have got to be my daughters best example For if I'm not, who will be? It is not her fault that she was dealt only me To set it for her, that's the key, you see?

If you are a mother or a father of any child you already know by heart that your little ones they follow after in your footsteps. It is sad to say this but most "bad children" are "bad children" because they have "bad parents." When a baby is very young yes, it is quite innocent and you can get away with maybe some things but sure enough within the year they are already following you around, Literally. Children learn so much as they grow, and they watch their parents and look to their guardians to set up the example on how they should act. It's confusing to a child to be told to follow some one else's behavior because it's first nature to watch your parents first. So it's wrong when parents assume other people should be the ones setting examples, because that's not how children are designed to work. As a parent, we should take on the full responsibility of how we act and how we raise our children to act. So you have to be careful about everything you say and do especially around children.

No Parent is ever perfect though, I sadly, had a bad cursing problem with my first child, and before I knew it she began talking and cursing too. And I would think to myself, how am I suppose to discipline her and teach her not to curse and that it is bad when I am sitting here literally the one teaching her, It's OK, to say it? Honestly, It made me feel like a hypocritical mother, who was failing her daughter, and it was very discouraging.

It really made me think though to myself, my child must really pay attention to me, and think highly of me to copy me, even my bad habits!

So I urge you, if you are a parent or guardian of children and you try and follow God, remember, you must also do your best to be the right kind of example for your child's future. No matter what age they are, all children will look first to you. Don't lose courage either if it takes work and discipline and sometimes even tough love, it will be worth it in the end.

Honestly, My children till this day are blessings to me, even so that they in return teach me, and remind me, "Hey! you need to act right too." So In return, you can also learn from your children, making it a win win.

Father God, Who art in Heaven, Holy be your name,

I come to you today, I want to say thank you for your holy word and for all of the loving advice and examples it gives of how to be a good role model for my children, so that they may follow after you as they grow, as I also try to do. Lord, forgive me if I have failed them in being the best parent that I could have been. Forgive me for the times that I have also failed you. Please help me watch my actions, and the words I speak, not only for my children's sake but also so that I may be a good example to all I encounter.

In Jesus Christ's Name I Pray, Amen
