The First Marriage Ceremony

Genesis 2:18-24 “Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”  Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him. So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said,   “This at last isbone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Ruth 1:16-17 “But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the LORD do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.” Matthew 19:4-6 “He answered,  “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said,’Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” Ephesians 5:25-27 "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it” Revelation 19:7-9  "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. 2 Corinthians 11:2 “For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

After the wedding was the celebration they all sat down for Dinner This is how marriage Ceremony was designed by God From the Christian to the sinner.

Have you ever been to a wedding before? Most of us have. And if you have not you have most likely seen how a ceremony goes, on TV or movie at least once.

God, in the very beginning when he created Adam and Eve, he showed us the very first example of a wedding like ceremony in the garden of eden. If you read carefully it says that the father, presented her to Adam. Thus we get the tradition of a father walking his daughter down the aisle to present her to her future husband.

Do you ever wonder why God created marriage? I personally believe he created this bond between a man and a woman to limit sinful temptation but to also show us an example of how to people can become one flesh. Not only physically but also in a mental aspect. Family is a big deal to God. We are all children and in a sense a family also in Christ Jesus.

I always love weddings, myself, there truly is just something mystical about them. The commitment and the faith and trust the couple has when saying their vows always makes me feel happy and hopeful. God holds marriage high in his eyes to because he hates divorce. Marriage should always be kept as a union.

There is much more to talk about when it comes to God and marriage and what the scriptures tell us, but today I just wanted to talk about the ceremony and how it was first established by God. Thanks for reading, and come back for more future posts.

Prayer For Today

Father God, Thank you for love. Thank you for making and creating the idea of marriage and the union between a man and a woman. There is something special about the love that happens in a marriage and having a family. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your heavenly family and that we are truly heirs to Heaven.

In Jesus Christ Name I Pray,

Amen.
